The NEVERFLAT project participated in the UK-EU Innovation & Collaboration Symposium on V2X and Smart Charging, held on 14-15 April 2026 at the University of Salford, United Kingdom. The event brought together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers and other stakeholders from across Europe and the UK to discuss the future of smart charging, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technologies and the transition towards a more sustainable energy system.
Presenting the NEVERFLAT Project
During the symposium, Corneliu Barbu, Coordinator of the NEVERFLAT project, introduced the project’s vision and ongoing work on developing affordable, smart and interoperable charging solutions for electric vehicles.
The presentation highlighted NEVERFLAT’s approach to enabling bidirectional charging through Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) services, supporting greater integration of renewable energy sources while improving grid flexibility and reliability. Participants also learned about the project’s innovative technologies, pilot demonstrations and its contribution to Europe’s clean mobility objectives.
Exchanging Knowledge on V2X and Smart Charging
The symposium provided an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge and discussing the opportunities and challenges linked to the large-scale deployment of V2X technologies.
Experts explored a wide range of topics, including smart charging, interoperability, energy flexibility, electricity markets, user engagement and policy frameworks. Discussions also focused on the importance of collaboration between research organisations, industry, public authorities and policymakers to accelerate the adoption of innovative charging solutions.
These exchanges offered valuable insights that support the development of user-centred, reliable and scalable charging infrastructure across Europe.
Strengthening European Collaboration
Participation in international events such as the UK-EU Innovation & Collaboration Symposium enables the NEVERFLAT consortium to share its progress, learn from complementary research initiatives and strengthen cooperation within the European research and innovation community.
By engaging with experts and stakeholders from different sectors, the project continues to ensure that its solutions respond to the evolving needs of electric vehicle users, energy providers and the wider e-mobility ecosystem.
