Collaboration with the BRIDGE Initiative

NEVERFLAT partners actively contribute to the BRIDGE initiative, a European Commission supported cooperation platform that brings together Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 projects in the fields of smart grids, energy storage, digitalisation, and the energy transition. BRIDGE fosters collaboration among projects to ensure that research and innovation efforts are aligned with EU energy policy objectives and that results support a more integrated, consumer-centric, and decarbonised energy system.

Through their participation, NEVERFLAT partners engage directly in four key BRIDGE Working Groups: Consumer and Citizen Engagement, Business Models, Regulations, and Data Management, ensuring that project outcomes are developed in step with evolving European standards and policy frameworks. These exchanges provide valuable insights into interoperability, market design, and user engagement strategies, helping to align project developments with broader EU initiatives on flexibility services and smart charging.

At the same time, NEVERFLAT contributes back to the BRIDGE community by sharing its experience in bi-directional charging, user-centric mobility services, and cross-sector data governance. The project’s pilots and analytical frameworks offer practical lessons for integrating smart charging infrastructure with local grids and user communities, supporting the collective aim of a connected and inclusive energy ecosystem across Europe.

Collaboration with the V2X Cluster

The NEVERFLAT project has recently joined the V2X Cluster, a collaborative initiative bringing together European projects focused on vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technologies. The cluster supports knowledge sharing and coordination among projects working on topics such as grid interaction, charging systems, user behaviour, and new business models.

In addition to the cluster itself, a new V2X Alliance is being set up to further facilitate collaboration across key technical and user-focused areas. Working groups have been established around four core topics:

  • Battery degradation

  • AC/DC charging

  • User aspects

  • Business models

NEVERFLAT partners have been invited to join these working groups and contribute to ongoing discussions. This collaboration is expected to support alignment with other projects and improve the relevance and applicability of results across the wider V2X ecosystem.

Alignment with the 2Zero Partnership

NEVERFLAT is fully aligned with the objectives of the 2Zero (Towards Zero Emission Road Transport) partnership, particularly in the development of inclusive, user-friendly, and interoperable smart charging infrastructure to support the large-scale deployment of electric vehicles.

The consortium actively monitors activities and outputs from 2Zero and ensures that project outcomes contribute to the broader goals and key performance indicators defined by the partnership. Alignment efforts are structured around 2Zero’s main research pillars:

  • Vehicle Technologies and Propulsion Solutions – including Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV).

  • Integration into the Energy System – focusing on the connection between BEVs and the energy grid, including charging infrastructure.

  • Innovative Mobility Concepts and Services – supporting new models and services for low-emission mobility.

  • Life Cycle Assessment and Circular Economy – applying sustainability and resource efficiency principles throughout the vehicle and infrastructure lifecycle.

NEVERFLAT contributes by providing technical insights, pilot use cases, and data relevant to these areas, supporting knowledge transfer and strategic alignment within the 2Zero framework.
