Meet the partner: IREC
IREC, based in Barcelona, is a leading research centre focused on sustainable energy technologies and innovation.
In NEVERFLAT, IREC plays a key technical role by supporting the design, simulation, and validation of smart EV charging systems. Their work ensures efficient integration with the electricity grid and renewable energy sources, contributing to both system reliability and sustainability.
Through their expertise in energy systems and applied R&D, IREC helps drive forward practical solutions for clean and inclusive e-mobility.

Mihai Macarie and Mihai Mladin recently represented the NEVERFLAT Project at the SIREN – Romanian Energy Symposium, a premier annual gathering for the national energy community. This year’s theme, “A resilient and fair transition for the Romanian energy sector,” fostered critical dialogue between public institutions, academia, and industry leaders.
Throwback to EnergIntell 2025: Presenting NEVERFLAT’s Vision for Smart Energy Systems
Last October, the EnergIntell Conference brought together energy professionals, researchers and policymakers to discuss the evolving landscape of the energy transition and the future of sustainable energy systems.
During the event, the NEVERFLAT project was presented within a workshop dedicated to research and innovation solutions supporting the energy transition. The presentation was delivered by Corneliu Barbu, NEVERFLAT Project Coordinator, together with Mihai Mladin from project partner CRE.
Meet the partner: EDENTIFY Foundation
Edentify Foundation, based in Estonia, is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to raising education and awareness about meaningful research projects. Their mission is to support collaboration, encourage innovation, and promote open-source solutions across different sectors.
In the NEVERFLAT project, Edentify leads the development of digital tools that connect users, charging stations, and energy systems. Their role focuses on creating simple, secure, and user-friendly services that make it easier for people to charge their electric vehicles, manage energy use, and access local smart grids.

We are excited to be part of the NEVERFLAT project and to contribute our expertise in charge point management systems to the important development of bidirectional charging. Together with our partners, we are developing innovative V2G solutions that will take the integration of e-mobility and energy systems to the next level and prove that electric vehicles are not part of the problem, but part of the solution when it comes to meeting the current challenges in a changing and volatile energy system.
