NEVERFLAT project was presented at the 6th Edition of the FACTORY 4.0 Expo Conference.
The 6th Edition of the FACTORY 4.0 Expo Conference, held on 9 October 2025 in Bucharest, Romania, brought together technology leaders, industrial stakeholders, and innovators under the theme “Where digital transformation meets Industry 4.0 innovation.” The conference serves as a platform to explore digitalisation, smart manufacturing, and advanced industrial technologies, including AI, energy systems, automation and sustainability solutions.
Within the section of the programme dedicated to energy sustainability and RD&I-driven innovation, the NEVERFLAT project was highlighted as a relevant contribution to the intersection of renewable energy integration and future mobility infrastructures. Mihai Mladin, Head of RD&I at the Romanian Energy Center, presented NEVERFLAT’s objectives, recent progress, and its potential role in facilitating the energy transition. His presentation framed the project’s work in the context of emerging digital and energy technologies that are central to the Industry 4.0 narrative.
A major topic during discussions was vehicle-to-grid (V2G) integration, which is among NEVERFLAT’s core innovation areas. The panel examined the opportunities presented by V2G for enhancing grid flexibility and reducing peak load pressures, alongside practical deployment challenges such as interoperability with distribution networks, consumer adoption hurdles, and evolving regulatory frameworks. These points resonated with the broader conference emphasis on leveraging digital and smart technologies to address efficiency and sustainability mandates in industrial and energy ecosystems.
The session included contributions from Distribution System Operator (DSO) representatives and other energy ecosystem actors, who shared operational perspectives on grid evolution, flexibility requirements, and stakeholder expectations for integrating new technologies. Their insights offered practical viewpoints on infrastructure readiness and the systemic changes needed to support advanced energy solutions like V2G.
The audience, composed of professionals from industry, technology providers, and innovation communities, reflected a strong interest in smart charging, energy system flexibility, and sustainable mobility solutions. Attendance at the conference signals continued sector attention towards digital transformation as a driver of industrial resilience and energy optimisation.
NEVERFLAT’s participation at FACTORY 4.0 underlines its engagement with key stakeholders in the digital and energy innovation ecosystem, and the project will maintain its efforts to contribute to practical, scalable approaches for future-oriented energy and mobility integration.
