NEVERFLAT at the Biz Sustainability Summit

A Day Dedicated to Sustainability in Bucharest

On 29 May 2025, the Biz Sustainability Summit brought together more than 200 participants in Bucharest for a full day of discussions on climate and environmental goals. Organized by Biz, the event covered practical themes such as green finance, the circular economy, energy efficiency, sustainable design, and smart mobility.

The discussions highlighted a shared challenge: how to move from broad concepts to concrete steps that can be applied across industries and communities.

CRE and NEVERFLAT in the Spotlight

The Romanian Energy Center (CRE) played an active role in the summit. Mihai Mladin, representing CRE, joined a panel on energy, where he highlighted the NEVERFLAT Project and its contribution to sustainable mobility and energy transition. In his remarks, he:

  • Presented the sustainability aspects of the project’s proposed solutions, particularly the role of modular, bi-directional chargers.

  • Discussed the benefits of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) charging, including integration of renewable energy and grid stability.

  • Pointed out the challenges in the regulatory framework, which must evolve to allow the proper adoption and scaling of V2G solutions in Europe.

This perspective connected directly with the summit’s theme of ensuring that sustainability efforts are not only innovative, but also feasible under current policy and market conditions.

Linking Summit Themes with NEVERFLAT

The themes discussed in Bucharest directly connect with the objectives of NEVERFLAT, a Horizon Europe project focused on sustainable electric vehicle (EV) charging.

  • Smart Mobility: NEVERFLAT develops bi-directional chargers that integrate renewable energy and support grid stability, addressing the mobility and energy dimensions of sustainability raised at the summit.

  • Practical Implementation: The project includes pilot sites in Romania, Germany, and Spain, showing how research results can be tested and adapted to local needs.

  • Collaboration Across Sectors: By involving research institutions, SMEs, municipalities, and energy organizations, NEVERFLAT mirrors the multi-sector dialogue emphasized during the event.
